Valter Soosalu
Valter Soosalu is an Estonian musician who enjoys multitasking as a conductor, singer, band leader and harpejji player.
He is currently the chief conductor of the Academic Male Choir of Tallinn University of Technology and chamber choir Kolm Lindu (Tartu, Estonia). Previous work as a guest conductor includes such groups as Tallinn Chamber Orchestra, Estonian National Male Choir and Vanemuine Theatre (Tartu, Estonia), among others.
As a tenor soloist, Valter Soosalu has participated in numerous concert programmes including G. F. Händel's “Messiah”, J. S. Bach's “Matthäus” passion and a concert performance of J. MacMillan's opera “Clemency”.
Valter Soosalu is one of the world's leading harpejji players - an electric musical instrument invented by Tim Meeks in 2007 in Maryland, US.
Soosalu's rock band Põhja Konn has released two albums - the self-titled “Põhja Konn” (2016), which earned three nominations at the Estonian Music Awards and “Hetk. Inspereeritud Tüürist” (2019), which won the Estonian Music Awards for Best Rock Album and Best Ensemble of the year.
